Carol Sisk, age 82, cherished wife, beloved mother, loving grandmother and faithful Catholic, passed on March 4, 2024 after a short and sudden illness. She was at home in hospice care surrounded by family at the time of her peaceful death.
Carol was born in New York City on December 24, 1941 to the late John and Letitia Reardon (nee Caslin), she was preceded in death by her only sister Letitia Ann Roche. She graduated from St Vincent Ferrer High School and attended Hunter College for 2 years. She met her future husband, Raymond Michael Sisk, during high school, and they strengthened their relationship and love during the years he attended the Naval Academy. They were married on June 16, 1962 in a military wedding at the parish where they both had attended grade school.
Carol was the mother of four children: Diane Marie Tretton (Jack) of Marco Island FL, Cathleen Ellen Aurigemma (Costantino) of Savannah GA, Michael John Sisk of Falmouth ME, and Daniel Raymond Sisk (Julie) of Fulton MD. She leaves 12 grandchildren ages 18 to 32; John Tretton IV, Caitlin McCarthy (Andrew), Michael Aurigemma, Allison Tretton, Matthew Aurigemma, Lindsay Tretton, Tyler Sisk, Mary Kate Sisk, Meghan Sisk, Caroline Sisk, Caslin Sisk and Kevin Sisk.
While raising 4 children Carol always found time for volunteer service. She served as a home room mother, as a catechism instructor and a Girl Scout leader. She chaired the Parks and Recreation Committee in the town of East Granby, CT for several years, starting a summer day camp for children and tennis instruction for teenagers. For these and other efforts, she was nominated by the Town Council and selected as an Outstanding Young Woman of America in 1976. In addition, she served on the boards of the Farmington Valley YMCA and Northwest Catholic High School.
With two children in college, Carol got her real estate license in 1981 and spent 8 years as a successful realtor at Valley Properties in Simsbury, CT.
After moving to Richmond, VA in 1991, she chaired the Newcomers Club Educational Programs Committee and facilitated trips and programs focused on state history and traditions. Since moving to Bluffton in 2004, she was a Red Hats Club activity chair, a volunteer reader at the elementary school and a Meals on Wheels volunteer for 6 years.
Carol was an outgoing woman of grace, beauty, and faith. She had a deep love for her family, a generous spirit and a kind heart. She will be eternally missed
Her life will be celebrated at a Funeral Mass at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Bluffton, SC on March 18th at 10:30am.
