Daria Binazeski, 84, passed away on Friday, March 1, at Hilton Head Hospital after suffering a heart attack.
She was born in Ukraine on September 20, 1939, to Walter and Maria Splawnyk. After surviving World War II as a young girl, she and her family immigrated to the United States and settled in Newark, NJ. Later in life, she married Peter Binazeski of Rochester, NY, and had two sons – Michael and Peter.
After her husband’s retirement, they moved from New Jersey to Bluffton, SC, settling in Sun City. They made many wonderful friends and enjoyed a full life together. She was a devout Catholic and follower of Padre Pio and worked tirelessly to help her parish, St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.
Daria Binazeski is survived by her husband of 60 years, Peter Binazeski, her two sons, Michael Binazeski and Peter Binazeski, daughters-in-law Courtney and Erica, granddaughters Abigail and Ellison, grandson Brennan, brother Peter Splawnyk, sister Sandy DiGirolamo, and sister-in-law Connie Splawnyk.
A viewing will occur Saturday, March 9, from 8:30 am to 10 am at Sauls Funeral Home in Bluffton, SC, followed by a funeral mass at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church, in her name.
