Dr. Carroll "Bud" Hall, 79, of Bluffton, SC, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family and pastor on February 17, 2024. Bud was born May 21, 1944, the oldest son of his late parents, Dr. Carroll and Frances Hall. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Nelson Hall, his brothers David Hall (Amelia) and Jonathan Hall (Laura), and several nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Parkersburg High School, Parkersburg, WV; Bud earned his BA from Marshall University, MA from Ohio State University, and Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico.
As Founder of Zia Assessments, he provided consulting services to the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as Museums and Art Organizations in the Southwest.
His extensive professional career includes Director of Scoring Initiatives at Pacific Metrics Corporation, Monterey, CA; Director of Hand scoring, CTB/McGraw-Hill, Monterey, CA; State Director of Assessment & Evaluation, Santa Fe, NM; Adjunct Professor at the University of New Mexico, and New Mexico Highland University; and Director of Resident Halls, Ohio State University.
Bud was a member of the Stillwater Club of Monterey, Rocky Mountain Education Research Association, Phi Delta Kappa University of New Mexico, State President of the New Mexico ACT Counsel, and American Education Research Association, the Monterey Elks Club, and the Monterey County Wine Tasters.
A celebration of Bud's life will take place later in the year; however, the date has not been determined.
