Judith Appenelli Obituary

Judith (Judy) Appenelli was born on December 17, 1955 and passed on March 1, 2024 surrounded by family while holding her children’s hands.

She was raised in Piscataway, New Jersey, raised her children in Edison, New Jersey and settled  in Bluffton, South Carolina for the last 23 years. But the true home in her heart was West Virginia, where both of her parents were from and where she spent summers as a child.

She leaves behind her husband of 40 years, Michael “Clem” Appenelli, her children Lori Pfaff, Andrew Appenelli and his wife Savannah Appenelli, and Nicolas Appenelli, her grandson Michael Appenelli, siblings Sheryl Bare, Calvin “Bud” Bare, Jr, Kathleen Smith and her husband Tony Smith, her step-mother Nancy Bare, chosen family the Mascitellis, many nieces and nephews (as so many knew her as Aunt Judy), and friends who were instantly family.

She was predeceased by her father Calvin “Bud” Bare Sr, her mother Ruth Day (Bragg) and sister Deborah “Debbie” Bare.

In this life, Judy made an impression on all she met. Never one to hold back her thoughts or feelings, she loved fiercely. The legacy she leaves behind is one of steadfast support, living your truth, and caring for your loved ones. The thread that weaves her circle together is that anyone under her umbrella will profess, “She was always there for me.” If you needed a meal, a dose of reality, a place to stay - you could count on her. Her ripples of love and loyalty will continue to impact those she touched for generations to come.

She faced life’s challenges and struggles with determination and strength. And she celebrated life’s triumphs with equal enthusiasm.

May her spirit find solace and the people who she impacted find comfort in the many memories of time spent together.

In lieu of flowers, Judy wished for donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.
