Peter Koning Obituary

Peter Oliver Koning passed away on March 6, 2024, at the age of 78. Peter is survived by his brothers Andrew Koning, Christopher Koning, and Paul Koning; their wives Gretchen Koning, Pamela Koning, and Patricia Koning; and his brothers’ children and grandchildren. Peter is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Laura Patricia Koning; his parents Paul A. J. Koning and Ursula Koning; and his brother Thomas Koning.

Peter was born on February 18, 1946, the second oldest of five brothers, and grew up in Port Washington, NY. A veteran of the US Army, Peter graduated from Marietta College with a degree in economics and enjoyed a successful career in the mortgage banking industry. On January 2, 1982, he married Laurie, the love of his life. After many years living in the greater Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and later in southern California, Peter and Laurie retired to Bluffton, S.C. Peter enjoyed playing golf and poker and spending time with friends. Peter was a loving spouse, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle, and had a wry, playful sense of humor that his whole family enjoyed. He will be very much missed by all.
