Name: Margaret Ellis Date: May 30th, 1918 - December 28th, 2009 Obituary: Margaret Reynolds Ellis, 91, widow of Junius Gather Ellis, passed away December 28, 2009 at the Ridgeland Nursing Center in Ridgeland, SC. She was born in White Hall, SC on May 30, 1918 to the late Raymond and Dessie Smith Reynolds. She was a graduate of Roper/MUSC School of Nursing and attended Draughon’s Business College in Savannah, GA; she was employed for many years by the Jasper County Health Dept.; served on the original committee to locate and construct The Jasper County General Hospital and later became the first Director of Nursing where she served until her retirement. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of United Methodist Women; former Business and Professional Women’s Club Woman of the Year. She is survived by her son, J. G. ‘Sonny’ (Frieda K.) Ellis, III of Ridgeland, SC; two granddaughters, Haley Ellis of Bluffton, SC and Emily Ellis of Amsterdam, The Netherlands; one sister, Jean (Lloyd) Bowers of Ridgeland, SC; sister in law, Margaret Ellis (Dr. Chester) Taylor of Winchester, VA; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, January 1, 2010 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Ridgeland, SC with burial in the Ridgeland Cemetery. A Visitation will be held from 6 til 8 pm, Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams Ave., Ridgeland, SC. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Building Fund, PO Box 550, Ridgeland, SC 29936.
