Virginia Ervin Campbell passed into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on March 16. She was 89. “Gin” was born in Florence, SC, on December 11, 1920, the seventh child of Samuel Hugh and Ida Dargan Ervin. She was married to Daniel Morrison Campbell, Jr. in 1940. They lived briefly in Florence, SC, then Norfolk VA, during WWII, eventually settling in Myrtle Beach, SC, where they raised five children and where Morrison ran Myrtle Beach Lumber Company. They were members of First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach. Gin and her husband moved to Murrells Inlet, SC in the 1970’s. If she wasn’t working in her yard or cooking meals for family gatherings, Gin would be out in her creek boat fishing or crabbing. She had a zest for life and for laughter and a great love for her family. Gin is predeceased by her husband and her youngest son Edwin “Ned” Dargan Campbell. She is survived by four children and their spouses: Daniel Morrison Campbell III, Wynne Campbell Fuse, Peg Campbell Yelverton, and Norma Wynne Campbell, ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Special thanks are given to the loving caregivers and nurses who have helped to care for Gin for the 14 years of her extended illness.
