Name: Edward Thomas & Karen Marie Farrar Cavanaugh Date: May 4th, 2010 Obituary: Edward Thomas and Karen Marie Farrar Cavanaugh, 72 and 69, passed away at their home in Bluffton, SC on Tuesday, May 4, 2010. They were married for 47 years. Edward was born February 6, 1938 in Chicago, IL and Karen was born December 11, 1940 in Chicago Heights, IL. Edward was the son of the late Edward Thomas and Jane Daugherty Cavanaugh and Karen was the daughter of the late Melvin and Marie Jurgensen Farrar. Edward was the owner of Village Rathskeller Tavern and an active member of the Jaycees. He was an avid 16” softball pitcher and played until he was 52 years old. He attended St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. He was a five year cancer survivor and he loved his grandchildren. Karen was a homemaker who enjoyed crafts and bowling. She was active in her children’s activities and organized family trips. She took great pride in her work assisting Dr. Vincent Oganwu. She attended St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Edward and Karen are survived by their children, Kevin M. (Elizabeth) Cavanaugh of Hilton Head Island, SC, Pamela Cavanaugh of Hilton Head Island, SC and Linda (David) Plath of Schererville, Indiana; their grandchildren, Joshua Plath, Jordin Plath and Fionn Cavanaugh and their family friend, Tom Steib. Karen is survived by her brother, Robert (Ruth) Farrar of Mt. Pleasant, NC and Edward was predeceased by his sister, Dolores McShane. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis By The Sea Catholic Church, 45 Beach City Road, Hilton Head Island, SC at 11:00 am, Monday, May 10, 2010.
