Obituary:
Robert C. Cereghini, 75, a loving husband, son, father, grandfather and brother died peacefully, May 21, 2010, at his home in Bluffton, South Carolina. He was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, December 28, 1934. A graduate of Pace University in 1956, he was drafted into the Army Audit Agency in 1957, and spent a year and a half in Germany, at which time his first child, Paul, was born in an army hospital in Kaiserslautern. He was a CPA and spent several years with national CPA firms. The bulk of his career was spent in the mining and oil industries, first with Anaconda and then Kennecott as Senior Vice President of Administration and Control. Kennecott was acquired by Standard Oil of Ohio, which was then acquired by British Petroleum. He was Vice President of Administration and Control of BP Oil at the time he and his wife, Elaine retired to Hilton Head Island in 1991. He is survived by his wife, Elaine; his mother, Ida Cereghini and his sister and her husband, Elaine and Edward McCall of Hilton Head Island; his six children and their spouses – Paul and Beth Cereghini of Paradise Valley, AZ; Lenore Cereghini of Dublin, OH; Lisa and Brian Lersner of Ridgefield, CT; Lauren and Don Gergle of Bluffton, SC; Brian Cocchia of Bluffton, SC; and Tara and Vincent Little of Middletown, MD.; and sixteen grandchildren, Michael, Robert, Tony, Kate, Richard, Andrew, Robert, Steven, Lindsay, Nathaniel, Hannah, Joy, Noah, Faith, Samantha and Nicholas. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, May 28, 2010 at Church of The Cross, on the Maye River, Bluffton, SC. Interment will follow at the Beaufort National Cemetery at 12:30 pm in Beaufort, South Carolina. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice Care of the Low Country, PO Box 3827, Bluffton, SC 29910 or the Hilton Head Humane Association, P.O.
