He was born in Hardeeville, SC on October 20, 1928. He was the son of the late Willie Robert and Leita Sauls Lassiter. He was retired from Union Camp Corp where his nickname was “Carolina”. He was the owner of J.R. Lassiter Construction Company and he was a member of Maye River Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Clifton Lassiter of Hardeeville, SC; one son, Robert Michael (Michelle) Lassiter of Hardeeville, SC; two daughters, Linda Gail (Larry) Sanders of Hardeeville, SC and Janet (Marshall) Bishop of Okatie, SC; seven grandchildren, Dana Skinner, Melissa Guardino, Robert Michael Lassiter Jr., Michelle Fekete, Alec Bishop, Brannen Bishop and Jaron Bishop and nine great grandchildren. He was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, July 26, 2010 in the Maye River Baptist Church, Bluffton, SC with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 til 5, Sunday afternoon, July 25, 2010 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland, SC.
