Beatrice (Nelson) Bailey 83, widow of Robert Bailey, passed peacefully on Wednesday May 1, 2019 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital in SC after a short illness. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family during the last days of her life. Beatrice was born in Ridgeland SC. April 8, 1936 to the Late Neptune and Mary Nelson. She faithfully served as a Witness for Jehovah in NY and SC for over four-decades. Beatrice was a well-respected and active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Beaufort SC as well as a successful business owner until retirement.
Beatrice Bailey was best known to many as one of the following names: Grammy, Auntie, Busy Bee, Busy, Bea or Sister Bailey. Beatrice is survived by (2) children: Daughter Deborah Taylor of Burton SC and Son Roderick Bailey of Ridgeland SC. Survived by (3) siblings: Neptune Nelson of Burton SC, Albert Nelson of Ridgeland SC, Jake Bolden of Ridgeland, SC and preceded in death by (2) siblings: Sister Vivian (Nelson) Wise and brother Jacob Nelson of New York. Survived by (8) grandchildren, Chevita Pollock of Raleigh NC, Deatrice Taylor of Atlanta Ga, Monica Taylor of Columbia SC, Delilah Dupree, Damel Davis, D’Onikah Bailey all of Walterboro SC, DiaVonah Bailey, Roderick Jr of Ridgeland SC. and preceded in death by (1) grandchild (DiaVonah Bailey #1). She will be missed by her (11) great-grandchildren, (11) great-great grandchildren, as well as a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
