Dennis Norman Squires

Dennis Norman Squires, 68, of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 11, 2019.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910.  Pastor Shaun Olsen of Venture Church will be officiating.  Please arrive between 1-2pm for visitation with the family.  The service will begin at 2pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Venture Church’s building fund, which Dennis loved so much, at https://www.venturesc.org/give.

Dennis was born July 13, 1950 in Seat Pleasant, MD to Norman Charles and Callie Lee, where he graduated from Crossland high school.  Dennis met the love of his life Maggie in 1967 when he was 16 and Maggie was 17, and they were married less than 2 years later on April 12, 1969.  While he spent most of his life in MD, Denny called Illinois home for a time, enjoyed a number of happy years in Texas near his daughter’s family, and was happy in his latest home base of Bluffton, South Carolina near his son’s family.   

Dennis was a kind, adventurous, compassionate, generous, and hilarious person.  He loved Jesus, his wife, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and grand dogs.  

Dennis is survived by his wife Maggie, son Jeffrey Squires (Lauren), daughter Lisa O'Neill (Tom), five grandchildren - Mason, Delaney, and Liam O'Neill, and Beverly and Vivian Squires, his 2 brothers Butch and Billy, 2 sisters Shirley and Ann Marie, and his grand dogs Seamus and Percy.
