Donald Paul Kovarcik, 73, of Bluffton, SC, husband of Rosemarie, passed away Friday, November 2, 2018 at Vibra Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
Mr. Kovarcik was born June 25, 1945 in Passaic, NJ to the late Karl Kovarcik and Ann Timosko Kovarcik and was raised Lutheran. He was a graduate of Lincoln University and later became a production supervisor for WR Grace Chemical Company. A US Army veteran, he received a Bronze star for bravery during the Vietnam War. He loved being involved in his sons' numerous sporting activities and would often coach their teams at the Boys & Girls Club. He also became coordinator of the junior golf program at Patuxent Greens Country Club in Laurel, MD prior to his retirement in Bluffton, SC. He was a member of the Crescent Pointe Golf Club until Parkinson's made him hang up his golf game. Not one to slow down, he took up bowling and kickboxing instead. He loved spending time with family and friends and was known to coordinate social events in his Laurel neighborhood that would include his famous Maryland spiced shrimp and crabs.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Don Paul Kovarcik (Leanne) of Los Angeles, CA and Jonathan E. Kovarcik (Kimberly) of Ashland, VA; sister, Carol Herrman of Sun City, SC; and grandchildren, Bohdan Kovarcik, Dillon Kovarcik, Cyrus Kovarcik, and Joseph Kovarcik.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 31 St. Gregory Drive, Bluffton with burial following at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Beaufort National Cemetery.
