Emily Sturdivant Obituary

Emily Virginia Sturdivant left this earth November 13, 2018, after living and loving a life that began in Miami, Arizona, in 1922. Virginia was born to Gertrude and Daniel E. Molina, Sr. and was the younger sister of Daniel E. Molina, Jr. She leaves behind her son George Sturdivant, grandson Cory Sturdivant, both of Florida. In addition she leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins and a plethora of folks who all mourn the loss of this precious woman. Our family would be remiss if we didn’t thank her Pruitt Hospice team members of Linda, Neil, and Rachelle who lovingly guided us on this end of life journey.

Hers was a life well and fully lived. Virginia had deep love for her friends and family and we all keenly knew it. Her interests ranged from the intricacies of nature to aviation to the music of Santana, Young, and Sinatra.  If you were blessed to be one of her beloved, you might be with her watching the hang gliders off Torrey Pines while eating a hot dog, following the leaders at a PGA tour event, or marveling at her ability to navigate NYC on her way to lunch and a show well into her 80’s. She was a lifelong golfer, golf fan and animal lover. Virginia is horribly missed by the members of Peddie Golf Club and especially by the gals who all celebrate golf and each other at the “Last Hurrah” post golf season.

Much could be told about Virginia including working for the inventor of WD-40, Convair aircraft manufacturing, Dr. Geisel Seuss, and being overseas after WWII with her first husband, USAAF Captain Ernest McAnulty until his untimely death in Okinawa, Japan, in 1949. But what is closest in our memories are her travels after WWII and her marriage to ship Captain Roy T. Sturdivant (d. 2014) for over 60 years. Together they continued to have adventures while traversing the country from Rancho Bernardo, CA, to Hightstown, NJ, always accompanied by a big dog in the back seat.

If you were not fortunate enough to have known this unique, loving, and vibrant woman, we are sorry. For those of us who have had the honor, let us continue her legacy by being quick with a smile and deep with our love.
