Ethel (Mixson) Horton

Ethel Horton, age 94, of Early Branch, SC and widow of Hal George Horton passed away on January 12, 2019 at Ridgeland Nursing Home.

Mrs. Horton was born in Grays, SC on September 11, 1924 to the late Stephen Holbrook Mixson and Ethel Tindal Mixson.

Mrs. Horton was a member of the Pine Level Baptist Church.  She was a devoted wife, mother and loved caring for her family.

Mrs. Horton is survived by her sons, Hal G. Horton Jr. (Janet) of Beaufort, SC and Thomas Holbrook Horton (Jackie) of St. Mary’s, GA; her daughter, Myrna Louise Belser (Harvey) of Summerton, SC; her brother, Olin Mixson of Grays, SC; her sisters, Vonette Horton of Varnville, SC, Elizabeth Crews of Yemassee, SC and Margaret Calvert of Columbia, SC; granddaughters, Dr. Elizabeth Buckner (Bobby), Emily Belser, Chandler Horton, Halee Horton, Sarah Gibboney, Holly Horton, Rebekah Trapp and one great grandchild, Lydia Buckner.  She was predeceased by her brothers, Grover, Warren ‘Moss’, Willie ‘Bubba’, Woodrow and Gary Mixon and her sisters, Verna Tuten and Allean Simmons.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Sauls Funeral Home Chapel, Ridgeland with burial to follow in Sand Hill Cemetery, Varnville, SC.
