Florene D. Saracco died on 8/8/19 at MUSC Hospital in Charleston, S.C. following complications from deep brain stimulation surgery for Parkinsons disease.
Florene attended Benld, Il. grade schools through grades 1-8 and graduated from Gillespie,Il. High School in 1965. Florene attended Eastern Ill. University graduating in 1970. Florene attained her Masters degree attending Southern Ill. University of Edwardsville in Special Education.
Florene taught High School Special Ed. for a number of years in Illinois and Missouri. Later on in life and wanting a career change from teaching Florene found her true calling in sales working for the New York Times. Florene's work travels took her all over the country. Later in life after being diagnosed with Parkinsons disease Florene went back home to Benld, Ill. and taught Special Ed. at Mt.Olive,Ill. High School.
Later on in Florene's life with her true love and husband Terry on a whim decided to vacation in Hilton Head, S.C. Florene loved the area and the people so much that they decided to make Bluffton,S.C. their permanent home for the next 18 years. Florene taught Special Ed. around the Savannah and Beaufort area until her retirement in 2005.
Florene was a past member of the Bluffton Garden Club serving as their treasurer for a number of years. Florene had a number of passions and they were politics (being a died in the wool Democrat), tending to her flowers and yard,dinner parties, and her fur baby kitty children Lola and Lyla.
Florene will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her husband Terry Marvel and her brother John and Donna Saracco.
