John Elton Loncon Sr. 'Peck' passed away on October 13, 2018 at the age of 95. He was born May 25, 1923, to Morris and Rachel Loncon in Savannah, Georgia. He was a lifelong resident of Bluffton, SC.
In his younger years, John was very active in sports and joined the minor league baseball team in Deland, Florida. In 1942, he decided to enlist in the United States Military and served in the US Navy. He was a member of the USS Hyades during World War II. Following his military service, he took on a number of jobs before settling at the Savannah Sugar Refinery. After years of service at the refinery, he retired to pursue his passion for the game of golf. In addition to golf, John loved watching and supporting the Atlanta Braves.
John Sr. is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Loncon, his parents, Morris and Rachel Loncon, his brother (Morris) and sister (Anna Mae). He is survived by his three children: Olivia Rowland of Savannah, Ga; John E. Loncon, Jr (Sharon) of Bowie, MD.; and Leissa Clemmons (Jeff) of Statesboro, Ga.; his seven grandchildren: Al, Rachel, Jennie, Jeffery, Keefer, Kerstin and Samantha and 12 great grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at 11:00 am, at the Bluffton Cemetery in Bluffton, S.C.
