Sadly, Midge Haworth passed away on August 1st 2019. While Midge was diagnosed with cancer 10 years ago, those who knew her were not surprised that she was too bloody stubborn to succumb to her illness in a timely fashion.
Midge was a wonderful wife to Mike who was lovingly and happily married to her despite the fact that she had made a hole-in-one playing golf and he never did. They were together for 61 years.
She was a devoted mother to Christina and John who remember her fondly for her highly creative language when under pressure and her willingness to drink a Cuba Libre after a night out. She was a loving grandmother to Alex, Sophie, Max & Ella and lived up to the adage that one’s children do not recognize the person a grandmother becomes.
Midge was a one of a kind. She was the life of the party, a great organizer, known for dancing on tables and swinging from the lounge chandelier. She was very fortunate in living a full and adventurous life. She lived in England, Mallorca and the USA. During her lifetime she enjoyed sailing, skiing, riding and owning horses, and playing golf and tennis. Her beauty and sophisticated manner hid a highly competitive personality. She greatly enjoyed winning. In more recent years, she appreciated many Moss Creek activities, the symphony, the theatre, the Jazz Corner and other local venues.
During her career she got her Associate Degree in Domestic Science and Nutrition, an Executive Secretarial Diploma, owned Haworth ARC and worked at ALP. She was an active member of the NSPCC.
She will be greatly missed, but we know that she leaves us having enjoyed a life well-lived.
The family will hold an informal memorial celebration at The Clubhouse, Moss Creek Plantation, Hilton Head SC on Saturday, 24 August, 2019 from 12 pm to 2pm. RSVP via email to howiffmeh72@gmail.com or call Mindy at (423) 774-1756.
Mike; John, Mindy, Alex, Sophie, Max & Ella; Christina & Ray
