Lt. Richard Hoag, USMC (Ret.) Obituary

Lt. Richard “Hoagie” Hoag, USMC (Ret.), age 70, of Okatie, SC died Thursday, October 18, 2018 at home.

Mr. Hoag was born on October 29, 1947 in Poughkeepsie, NY, the son of the late Charles and Helen Hoag. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1968. During his military tenure he served as an Avionics Technician on Marine aircraft, a Drill Instructor training over 600 new recruits, later a Warrant Officer, and ultimately retired in 1988 as a Lieutenant. Following his career with the Marine Corps he began working as a Reliability Engineer with AiResearch and after several mergers and acquisitions retired after many years of service with Honeywell. He was a former member of the Magic Castle, the clubhouse of the Academy of Magical Arts in Hollywood, CA. Outside of work and civic involvement, he enjoyed golf, magic, and spending time with his family.

Mr. Hoag was preceded in death by his daughter, Jane Mokler; brother, Robert Hoag; and sister-in-law, Marina Hoag. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Joan Hoag; brother, Charles C. Hoag, Jr; daughters, Jacqualynn Lakin, and husband David, grandchildren, Nicole, Jessica, and Karlee; Karey Smith and husband Dan, grandchildren Brittnee and Noel Blewitt; son, Martin Ramsey and wife Chisato, grandsons Bryan and Erik Molina; son-in-law, Steven Mokler, and great-grandchildren Zenna-Amara Odusanya and Maison Hillard.
