Mary Louise Locke Kovar, age 94, of Bluffton, SC and formerly of Montgomery, NY died Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Canterfield of Bluffton.
Mrs. Kovar was born on February 11, 1924 in Goshen, NY, the daughter of the late William and Emma Locke. She was a graduate of Middletown High School and went on to attend Plattsburgh University. During World War II she began working and ultimately managing a factory making parts for parachutes. After years of caring for her children, Mary became the Village Librarian, a position she held for many years. She was also the Village Historian. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Montgomery where she was a Sunday School Teacher and Trustee. Outside of work and civic involvement, Mary was a talented artist and voracious reader.
Mrs. Kovar was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Charles P. Kovar and their son, William “Bill” Kovar. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Morgan (Charles); sisters, Georgia Voegelin (Vic) and Katherine Howe; grandchildren, Christine Morgan, Joshua Morgan (Paola), Seth Kovar (Marisa), and Ryan Kovar (Amanda); and great-grandchildren, Darcy Waskiewicz, Devon Waskiewicz, and Daniela Morgan; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
The funeral service and interment will take place at a later date in Montgomery, NY.
