Mary Putzier Obituary

Mary Ann Putzier, age 78, died on Friday, November 30, 2018 at   Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Beaufort, South Carolina. Mary Ann was born at her maternal grandparent's home in Albertville,  Minnesota on August 13 ,1940. Her parents were Henry and Marie (Aydt) Goth. Mary Ann grew up on a farm in rural Minnesota with her eight siblings. Like her mother, she was resourceful, crafty, artistic and witty. 
She excelled in art  throughout her school years, beginning in grade school, to high school at Good Counsel in Mankato, Minnesota and  through college, receiving her Masters Degree in Art Education from the University of Minnesota/Mankato. 
She was a high school art teacher in Minnesota for for many years. In 1978 she married Matt Putzier and moved to River Falls, Wisconsin. Mary Ann's favorite mediums were watercolor and porcelain painting . The walls and shelves of family and friends are decorated with her wonderful creations, providing many lasting memories of her fine work. 
Mary Ann and her husband, Matt,  retired to Danbury, Wisconsin in 1998. They spent summers in Wisconsin and winters in Sun City Hilton Head, South Carolina. In 2014 they moved to Sun City year-round. Her husband, Matt passed away in 2017. 
Mary Ann was a member of many art associations and art clubs. She taught at the All About Art Club for 22 years. She created and taught the children's art program for 10 years. Mary Ann also gave painting lessons out of her home in Danbury, Wisconsin and Sun City in South Carolina . She also took art students to Europe and taught classes in France and Italy. Mary Ann's many awards are a tribute to her long and remarkable art career. 

Mary Ann is survived by her step-son, Tim (Kay) Putzier, step-daughter-in-law, Jessica Putzier, step-grandsons, Max and Zane Putzier. Brothers: Richard (Gloria)Goth, Robert (Clarice) Goth, Donald Goth, Douglas (Allyson) Goth and Sisters: Janice (Stephen) DeSloover, Loris Goth and brother-in-law, Jeremiah Saladin. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Greeting Mary Ann at the time of her death were her husband, Matt, her parents, Henry and Marie Goth, her brother, Gary Goth, her sister, Kay Saladin and her sister-in-law, Pat Goth.

 

Special thanks to Niece  Janet Servoss who cared for Mary Ann during her last days and to her neighbor Carol , her artist friends from Bluffton and Beaufort. Her Hospice Care nurses and Chaplains were also a great source of Love and Caring.  

 

Cremation was performed by  Sauls Funeral Home in Bluffton. There will be a Memorial Service for her in Minnesota next summer.
