Paul Mademann

Paul John Mademann, Jr., age 62, passed away at home on Monday, March 25, 2019 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born December 24, 1956 in Peekskill, NY. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Paul Mademann; and brothers Dr.David and Stephen. He is survived by his beloved partner, Frank Bright; mother, Mary Mademann; sister, Kathryn Mademann; daughter, Amanda Shipman, granddaughters, Jaylin and Khloe Shipman; and nephew, Chase Vaughan.

Paul grew up in Peekskill and Windham, New York, graduated from the Culinary Institute of American in Hyde Park, but ended up in the health fitness industry, owning and operating Summit Hill Athletic Club in Catskill, NY for more than 35 years. In recent years he and then partner, Ron Van Kleeck, followed Paul’s parents to sunny and warm Bluffton, SC for retirement where they enjoyed a welcoming community, sunshine and the beach. Our beloved Ron lost his fight with cancer in 2013.  Paul found love again with Frank Bright.   They enjoyed art, music, and travel together, along with memorable times with great friends and family.

Paul will be remembered for his warm heart, sense of humor, joyful dancing, amazing cooking skills, loyalty, and a kind compassionate spirit. We dearly love you and will miss you with all of our hearts.
