Rexford Alvin Travis, age 94, of Pooler, GA and widow of Carrie Cooler Travis, passed away on September 17, 2019 at Memorial Medical University, Savannah, GA.
Mr. Travis was born in Newton, North Carolina on July 14, 1925 to the late Leroy G. Travis and Floy Setzer Travis.
Mr. Travis was a retired Masonry Construction Foreman at MCRD, Paris Island, SC; a US Navy veteran of World War II; a member of the Risen Savior Lutheran Church in Pooler, GA and an avid gardener.
Mr. Travis is survived by his son, Terry G. Travis (Virginia) of Midway, GA; his daughter, Sandy Hunter (Robert) of Murphy, NC ; grandchildren, Paul Landry, Sharon Landry, Elizabeth Green (Michael), Matthew Bailey, April Travis, Terry Travis Jr. (Dana) and great grandchildren, Jemma Landry, Ava Green, Vivian Green, Lilian Travis, Cameron Travis and Willow Travis.
In addition to his beloved wife who passed away last year, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Regina C. Butterworth; his brother, Franklin Travis and his sisters, Elizabeth Yount and Vinnalee Yo.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:00 am, Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland, SC. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am with burial to follow at Ridgeland Cemetery.
