William “Bill” Pinckney

William “Bill” Pinckney, age 79, of Bluffton died Thursday, April 25, 2019 at home.

Mr. Pinckney was born on November 27, 1939 in Ridgeland, SC, the son of the late deSaussure and Margaret Pinckney. He was a graduate of Ridgeland High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served as a meteorologist and retired as a Petty Officer First Class after 20 years of service. Following his military tenure he was the owner of Pinckney Dry Cleaners in Ridgeland. Outside of work, Bill was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Mr. Pinckney was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Pinckney; and his brothers, deSaussure Pinckney Jr., Tommy Pinckney and Charles Pinckney. He is survived by his children, Helene Maria Pinckney, William W. Pinckney, Jr, Nancy White (John), Teresa Burke, Kristan Neal, and Melissa Neal; sisters, Judy Altman and Mary Pinckney Chancy; grandchildren, Brandon Oelgoetz, Jordan Oelgoetz, Rachel Langford, Roman Burke, Chloe Burke, Aubrey Neal, Kieran Chong, and Reid Davis; and great-grandson, Phoenix James Oelgoetz.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2019 at his home.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to The First Tee and The Salvation Army.
