Bernard L. Nichols

October 23, 1930 — December 19, 2021

Bernard L. Nichols of Sun City, South Carolina, died on December 19, 2021, at 91 years old. He was born in New York City to the late Sidney and Henrietta Nichols, and was predeceased by his brother, Gerald.  He was a Korean Marine Corps veteran and a graduate of New York University where he played basketball and attended the NYU Graduate School of Business Administration. He was a longtime resident of Rockland County, New York, where he was the CEO and Founder of Medi/Tab Consulting Co., Inc., one the largest independently owned medical billing and consulting firms in New York State.  He also held senior management marketing positions in General Electric, Computer Sciences, Potts Steel and Itel Corp.  He was active in his children’s sports, running Ramapo Basketball Association, and supporting their football and baseball teams in Rockland County, New York.  Upon moving to Sun City, he continued to be an avid tennis player and was a member of the Sun City Tennis Club as well as the Veteran’s Club and the Sun City Community Theatre. He enjoyed travel, classical music, reading American history books and spending time with his dog Winnie Grace.

Bernie will be deeply missed by his family.  More recently known as Nick, he is survived by his wife, Earline Nichols of Sun City, South Carolina; his son Scott, daughter-in-law Gabriela of Hoffman Estates, Illinois and grandchildren Daniel, Francesca and Sabrina Hobart; his son Brian and daughter-in-law Patrice and grandchildren Zo and Maya of New York City; stepdaughters Donna Kerns and her husband Wilmoth Kerns Jr., of Blowing Rock, North Carolina, Kimberly Hixson of Boone, North Carolina; step grandchildren Anna Kerns, of Orlando, Florida, Wilmoth Kerns III of Louisville, Kentucky and John Taylor Hixson and wife Sydney of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of The Palms, Okatie, South Carolina.  Sauls Funeral Home is coordinating services and an inurnment is to be held at the Beaufort Veterans Cemetery on February 25, 2022 at 2pm.
