James Buckner Bishoff

March 6, 1933 — December 19, 2020

James Buckner Bishoff of Hardeeville SC, formerly of Belpre Ohio, passed away December 19, 2020 at age 87, after a brief illness.

Jim was born on March 6, 1933 in West Union, West Virginia. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Chase, of Elkins, West Virginia on February 12, 1955 just before his departure to serve his country in the Korean War.

He was a dedicated husband, father and friend. In his youth, he was an exceptional athlete in track and field at both Morgantown HS and WVU prior to serving in the US Army. He enjoyed coaching, antique cars, attending car shows, baseball, bowling and golf.

He was known as a caring person, who supported youth sports and activities in Belpre and who loved his pet dogs. He retired from DuPont – Washington Works to spend more time with his family while enjoying many winters in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mary Bishoff; three children, Beth Radcliffe; Jim Bishoff; Kathy Sullivan; nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and his friends ~many of whom he considered family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to your favorite charity or doing an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness in his memory.
