John William Ashton

John William Ashton III, 61, of Bluffton, SC passed away on Friday, March 4th, 2022.

He was born on July 7th, 1960 to John William Ashton II and Ellen O'Brien Ashton in Columbus, OH where he called home for 30 years. John graduated from The Ohio State University and was an active member of the Chi Phi Fraternity Iota Chapter, where he made many memories and lifelong friends. He also met his wife, Julie, in Columbus and married in 1988. They later moved to Hudson, OH where they spent 23 years raising their three children.

John was passionate about business and spent many years working for his father-in-law, Allan Goldsmith, at Goldsmith & Eggleton, Inc. in Akron, OH and later owned his own company, Precision Gasket & Die in Brunswick, OH with Julie. After spending many family vacations in Hilton Head Island, SC, Julie and John made the decision to move south to Bluffton, SC in 2013 where he was a real estate agent for the past 8 years. John was an avid Savannah Bananas fan, enjoyed boating, and was enthusiastic about politics. He always had quite the sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and all their pets.

John is preceded in death by his parents, John William Ashton II, Ellen O'Brien Ashton and niece, Olivia Aicher. John is survived by his wife, Julie Goldsmith Ashton of Bluffton, SC; his children, John William Ashton IV, Robin Ashton, and Devon Ashton; his siblings, Pier Davis (Dan) of Dublin, OH, Erin Canaday (Jeff) of Dublin, OH, and Morgan Ashton (Tamara) of Alexandria, VA; his nieces and nephews, Tyler and Ryan Davis, Paige and Ben Aicher, and Addison and Ella Ashton; many other aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

A celebration of life will be held honoring John at a later date to be determined.
