Agnes Alberta Rutledge, 73, of Furman, SC passed away peacefully on April 1, 2021 at her daughter, Amanda’s home surrounded by family. She was born on October 4, 1947 in Hardeeville, SC to the late Richard and Lottie Walls. Agnes was the owner of a bait and tackle shop, but worked especially hard to raise five children by herself. She had an immeasurable amount of love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she would light up as soon as any of them entered her room.
Agnes is survived by her five children, Joanne Madias (Nicholas) of Allendale, SC, John Rutledge of Grays, SC, Mary Crews and Larry Prince of Nixville, SC, Edward Rutledge and Toni Trent of Beaufort, SC, Amanda Tuten (Chip) of Furman, SC, three brothers, Richard Walls Jr, David Walls, Leo Walls, two sisters, Jean Strickland, Betty Dietz, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Lottie Walls, one sister, Joyce Van Fossen, and one granddaughter, Tiffany Tuten.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 5, 2021 in Beaufort Memorial Gardens, 1 Copeland Dr, Beaufort, SC 29902.
