Albert M. Sramek II

Albert M. Sramek II (Al) died in his home in Bluffton, SC on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at the age of 84. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Sramek, his son, Michael Sramek, and his daughter, Amanda Sramek. His youngest son, Jeffrey Sramek, preceded him in death. Al is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Jane Hyatt Thorpe, son-in-law, Brandon Fetterolf, four grandchildren, Emma, Cayla, Carolina and Virginia, and his brother and his wife, Richard and Jan Sramek.

Al was a meticulous record keeper, avid reader of murder mysteries, and puzzle enthusiast. He enjoyed dining at Mexican and Italian restaurants with friends and family and boasted many athletic feats in his younger years, playing lacrosse at Johns Hopkins University, and being a leader of both the men’s lacrosse program at North Penn High School and the youth wrestling program, both in Lansdale, PA. He passed on his spirit for adventure and athleticism to his kids and grandkids, and he and Marge built an active life they shared with many family members and friends. From summers at the Jersey Shore—where he was more often found playing horseshoes or with a hammer in hand than relaxing on the beach—to winter ski trips in Vermont, chasing sunsets in Hawaii, and countless road trips in between, Al was always ready for an adventure.

Al also was a passionate golfer, even earning the coveted “hole in one” at the Sand Barron’s Golf Course in Sea Isle City, NJ and playing some of the country’s most prestigious courses. He lived almost 20 years on the 12th fairway of Belfair’s East Course in Bluffton, SC, where he most recently was known as a bit of a bridge shark – a game he enjoyed playing with his wife for nearly six decades. Prior to retiring in Bluffton, Al and Marge lived nearly 50 years in Lansdale, PA. Al was an amateur woodworker, crafting sea creatures for his children and grandchildren to decorate with seashells. Family would spend hours at his home trying to “win” either granddad’s handmade peg game, or Chinese checkers.

Al received his bachelor’s degree in Engineering Operations Research from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, and MBA in Finance from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. He started his multi-faceted career at Leeds and Northrup in industrial engineering, and continued on as a corporate real estate executive, seeking out expansion properties for Fortune 500 companies such as SmithKline Beecham. He later expanded his business operations by launching his own corporate real estate consultancy, AMS Associates. Never one to remain unchallenged, he continued to put his sharp mind to work through his consulting business in many meaningful ways over the past several decades.

Always having a golf pencil in his pocket (or golf tee for opening packages), Al was constantly leaving notes for loved ones on Post-its, loved a spicy Bloody Mary, a “real” Maryland crab cake (having hailed from Baltimore, MD), and trying to unassumingly feed his children’s dogs.

A memorial service is being planned for Saturday, January 10th at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Bluffton, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family offers two of Al’s favorite charities to show support. The Alzheimer's Association and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
