Alberta T. IngramSavannah, GAAlberta Theodora Ingram, 94, passed away Friday, March 09, 2012 at Savannah Square in Savannah, GA.She was born in Jesup, GA on July 1, 1917. She was raised by her foster parents, George and Cleo Bailey of Okatie, SC. She was a graduate of Baptist Hospital School of Nursing; a retired Major in the US Army Nurse Corps having served for 21 years; she landed on Omaha Beach during the Normandy Invasion; served during the Battle of the Bulge; managed the 44th EVAC Hospital in France, Belgium and Germany; nursed President Dwight Eisenhower and Mamie Eisenhower at Walter Reed Hospital; was a volunteer at Candler Hospital for 10 years; member, Bull Street Baptist Church, WMU and Sunday School.She is survived by one brother, Claude Ingram of Winston Salem, NC; a very special niece, Kay Morgan of Bethlehem, PA and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Edna I. Boroughs and Minnie Ingram; brothers, Henry Ingram, Arthur Ingram and Arch Ingram.Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, March 13, 2012 in the Grahamville Cemetery in Ridgeland, SC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the hour of service at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St. in Ridgeland, SC.
