Alden Hertzka

Alden Hertzka passed peacefully into heaven of natural causes on October 8, 2026. He was a man who loved God with a kind heart and cared about the details. He was deeply loved.

Born in Washington DC and raised in New Hampshire, Alden loved the outdoors in every season. He found his greatest joy playing tennis, jeeping, the mountains - camping out, croquet, walking on the beach with his family finding shark’s teeth and shells, scuba diving, shooting, watching movies and tending to his yard. His hands were always busy fixing things.

Alden built his career with the same care he gave his family. He spent numerous years learning and loving the building trade alongside his beloved father-in-law Jack Aldrich, and the last many years he was honored to work with and was a devoted employee of Forino Builders.

Alden is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Cherie Hertzka. Together they built a life and a beautiful family. He is also survived by their children, Cara (Hertzka) Kelley and her husband Matt Kelley (grandchildren Chloe and Connor Kelley), and Ryan Hertzka. He leaves behind his stepsister, Jennifer and Bill Elliott of Foster City, California, and stepbrother Robert Hertzka of Manhattan, NY. He is also survived by his cousins, Muff Beard and Dini (Cecil) Pickering and her husband Chuck Pickering, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Alden’s wife’s purpose was in serving him, and she cherished him every day as he cherished her. He will be extremely missed by his family and all who knew him.
