Alexander Brooks Willis, 87 former member of the Hardeeville Town Council where he served for twelve years and Mayor Pro -Tem passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah, GA on Friday, April 22, 2016. Brooks was born in Flovilla, GA on July 30, 1928 to the late James S. Willis and Idamae Brooks Willis. Brooks was a graduate of the University of Georgia; charter member of the Optimist Club in Savannah; attended Praise Assembly of God in Beaufort; Co-owner and operator of the first private probation company in Georgia located in Savannah; owner of Savannah Realty for many years and retired Master Sgt. of the United States Air Force Reserve after 22 years of service. Brooks is survived by his wife, LaJuan Floyd Willis of Hardeeville; his daughter, Crystal Wilson (Kirk) of Hardeeville; his sister, Nancy W. Joiner (Bill) of Milledgeville, GA; three grandchildren, Evan Wilson, Luke Wilson and Dylan Wilson and many nieces and nephews. Brooks was predeceased by his brother, James Steed Willis Jr. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland with burial to follow at Purrysburg Cemetery, Hardeeville, SC. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
