Alfred (Fred) DeVito, 88, died peacefully Sunday, August 8, 2010 after an extended illness.He was born in Norwalk, CT on March 26, 1922, son of the late Albert and Vincenza DeVito. He is predeceased by his brothers, Patrick, Albert Jr. and Americo DeVito.He had been a lifelong resident of Norwalk until moving to Bluffton five years ago. Fred enjoyed a full and active life. He loved to golf, swim, travel and especially going out dancing with his wife. His most treasured moments were spending time with his grandchildren.Mr. DeVito was a veteran of the US Army having served during World War II. He was employed with the US Postal Service having retired with over 40 years of service.Surviving are his loving and devoted wife, Filomena (Manny) Rubino DeVito; his children, Elizabeth Evans (James) of Bluffton, SC, Michele Cadle (Monte) of Phoenix, AZ and Fred DeVito (Cathy) of Enfield, CT; five grandchildren, Sean Evans of Bluffton, SC, Jeffrey Cadle (Clare) of Surprise, AZ, William Cadle of Phoenix, AZ, Rosa DeVito of Enfield, CT and Amanda DeVito of Bridgeport, CT; one great granddaughter, Erika Villegas of Surprise, AZ; one sister, Eleanore Talia of Norwalk, CT and numerous nieces and nephews.Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton, SC is assisting the family with their arrangements.
