Alice Saxon Knowles

Alice Saxon Knowles, 92, formerly of Ridgeland, SC and widow of Carl Knowles, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at the Agape Hospice House, Columbia, SC. She was born in Blythe, Georgia on August 5, 1923 to the late H. Grady and Vidella McCormack Saxon. She was a LPN formerly working at Candler General Hospital in Savannah, GA for many years and for Beaufort - Jasper Comprehensive Health System. Alice was a member of the Ridgeland Advent Christian Church; enjoyed shrimping, crabbing and the salt water. Alice was the family caregiver. Alice is survived by her son, Rev. Tommie Knowles (Sue) of Banner Elk, NC; her daughter, Phyllis Harrington of Lexington, SC; her brother, Dr. Sam A. Saxon (Connie) of Birmingham, AL; her sister, Camille Turner (Bill) of Ridgeland, SC; her grandchildren, E. Parker Sutler Jr. (Angela), Tammy Ballard (Raymond) and Grady Knowles; and six great grandchildren. Alice was predeceased by her infant brother, Henry Grady; her sister, Beverly Price and grandchild, Ray Knowles. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the Ridgeland Advent Christian Church with burial in Grahamville Cemetery, Ridgeland.
