Rev. Allen W. Rasmussen, 79, of Hilton Head Island, S.C., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on Staten Island, New York, on July 28, 1931, and was the son of the late Charles G. and Eunice Rasmussen. He graduated from Curtis High School on Staten Island, where he was active in baseball and basketball. He later graduated from Nyack College in Nyack, New York, where he received two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Missions and Theology. He served as Pastor in the Conservative Baptist Association in several churches in New York and New Jersey, and later as a lay leader in local churches on Hilton Head and in Bluffton. Allen was loved by all who came in contact with him for his ability to quickly make people feel like they have been old friends. He had a special love for children, and could be found at ball fields and events across the island, cheering them on. He also loved music and enjoyed playing the saxophone and leading worship. He especially enjoyed participating as a choir member in a Billy Graham Crusade in Madison Square Garden in his early years of ministry. You could often hear him whistling his favorite hymns in the hallways of church and around home. Allen
