Andrea D. Pronko

Andrea D. (Coan) Pronko, 78, a longtime resident of Maynard, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2026, in Port Royal, South Carolina.

Andrea was born on October 3, 1948, in Salem, Massachusetts, to Henry and Thelma Coan. She grew up in Concord, attended Rose Hawthorne Catholic School through high school, and later earned an associate degree from Mass Bay Community College. Over the years she worked for the CIA in Virginia, Sentry Insurance, and Digital Equipment Corporation, but her primary vocation was raising her family.

She married Peter J. Pronko III on April 26, 1973, at St. Bernard’s Parish in Concord. Together they cherished their time in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region and the White Mountains, and annual family vacations at Lake Winnipesaukee created a lifetime of memories.

Andrea will be remembered for her sharp wit and sense of humor, including what her caretakers affectionately called her “delicious sarcasm.” Everyone always knew where they stood with her, whether they asked or not. She passed on her sarcasm, strong will, and determination to her children, as their spouses, children, and one patient cat, Penelope, can attest, along with her love for family.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, Peter, and her brother, William Coan. She is survived by her four children: Peter IV and his wife, Dawn, of Longwood, Florida; Kristen and her husband, Derek Benoit, of Bluffton, South Carolina; Eric and his wife, Kara, of Glendale, Arizona; and Caitlyn Pronko of Bluffton, South Carolina. She also leaves six grandchildren: Tazi and Peter V of Longwood, Florida; Chandler of Richmond Hill, Georgia; and Connor, Patrick, and David of Glendale, Arizona; and her sister, Cathie (Coan) Gregg of Madison, New Hampshire.

A Funeral Mass and interment will be held in the summer of 2027 in Maynard, Massachusetts.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.
