Anne Marie McMahon Gilliam, 67, of Bluffton, formerly of New York, died peacefully with family and friends at her bedside on May 10, 2015 after a long brave fight against lung and brain cancer. Her beautiful smile, loving disposition and quick wit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Born in New York, she went to Sacred Heart Elementary Catholic School in Mount Vernon, Maria Regina High School, and then on to St. Bonaventure College. She worked in Manhattan as an insurance broker for many years, rising to the position of Vice President.
She is survived by her husband Raymond and his two children Kathryn and Trevor, her brother Arthur and his wife Cristabel, her niece Christina and her husband Benjamin and grandniece Christabel, her nephew John, and her sister-in-law Sue McMahon. She is also survived by many other family members and friends whom she considered family. She is predeceased by her parents Arthur and Anne McMahon and her brother James McMahon.
A funeral mass will take place at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church at 10:15 am on Friday May 22, 2015.
Internment of ashes and a funeral service will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, New York on Saturday June 6, 2015.
To honour Anne's life, the family asks that a donation be made to the America Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
