Anne Valentine Sauls

Anne Valentine Sauls, age 76, of Ridgeland, SC passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024.

Anne was born in Ridgeland, SC on April 14, 1947 to the late L. Martin Sauls and Reba Valentine Sauls Patterson.  She grew up alongside her brother, L. Martin “Little Martin” Sauls, III, above the funeral home on US Highway 17 in Ridgeland. She attended Ridgeland High School, where she was the drum majorette for the Tiger Band. She then went on to graduate from the Charles School of Cosmetology in Savannah, GA.

Anne was the proud owner of Anne’s Flower Shop & Gifts, a cornerstone of Ridgeland for 35 years, where she devoted many hours to design special floral arrangements for all her customers. She put her heart into her floral arrangements, a reflection of her caring spirit, and enjoyed talking and sharing stories with her customers.

Anne was known for her sense of humor and warm smile. She loved her grandchildren. To them, she was known for her spaghetti and pancakes. She could be found sitting in her chair, watching black and white movies and sipping on a Coca Cola. She was always ready to jump in the car and go somewhere, whether a short trip uptown or to the mountains to see snow with her grandchildren. She was a member of Ridgeland Baptist Church for many years and held lasting friendships with other members, most she had known since childhood.

Anne was preceded in death by her daughter, Tiffany Kathryn Dwyer Crosby.  She is survived by her sons, Michael G. “Mikie” Dwyer, Jr. (Sherree) of Tamarac, FL and Albert L. “Buster” Kleckley, Jr. of Ridgeland; brother, L. Martin Sauls, III (Diane) of Ridgeland; step-brother, Hayes Patterson, Jr. of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Kathryn Stoner (Blake), Phillip Wyatt Crosby, Griffin Kleckley, Albert L. “Hudson” Kleckley, III, and Emily Kleckley; nephew, L. Martin “Marty” Sauls, IV (Anissa); great-nieces, Macy Anne Sauls and Emma Martin Sauls; and great-nephew, L. Martin “Schaffer” Sauls V.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm, Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Ridgeland Baptist Church, Fellowship Hall. The family will receive friends beginning at 3:00 pm until the time of the service at the church Fellowship Hall.
