Anne Loretta Shorr

ANNE Loretta SHORR April 20, 1931- January 24, 2015 Anne Loretta Shorr, 83, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Hilton Head Regional Hospital. Born April 20, 1931 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Maryann (Foley) Sherry. The last of 13 children, Anne had a tough life but her spirit always remained hopeful, caring and of service to others. It was this beautiful guiding spirit that shaped Anne's entire life and so powerfully impacted the lives of everyone who came to know her. Anne committed her life to her children. She worked hard at many jobs that included Howard Johnson's, the Ulster County Infirmary, the HMO WellCare, Naples FL Community Health System and as a volunteer wherever she was needed. Anne led by example and her grit and infectious smile and energy was admired by all. Anne Shorr was a highly spiritual women that studied many religions from Catholicism to Buddhism and Anne served as a Unitarian minister. Anne's special gifts included calligraphy, story telling and she was even a competitive roller skater. Anne was last married to the caring Harold Shorr of Kingston who passed away in 2007. She is survived by her oldest son Edward Ullmann and his wife Patricia of Mt. Tremper, NY, a daughter Annemarie Bender and her husband Robert of North Port, FL, a son Richard Kraft and his wife Suzanne of Lake Katrine, NY, a son Peter Kraft and his wife Lori of Bluffton, SC, a son Kevin Kraft and his husband Oliver Kita of Woodstock, NY, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In the end, Anne's most special gifts were her refusal to quit no matter what the odds, to see life as just another sunny day from the Lord, and to always give grace and care to the neediest among us. Anne's life will be memorialized at UNITY of Hilton Head 1300 Fording Island Road, Bluffton, SC 29910 on February 15, 2015 at 12:00 PM.
