Anthony (Tony) Joseph Perri passed away peacefully in Bluffton SC on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
Tony was born on June 14, 1924 in San Fili, Italy and immigrated to Chicago in 1930.
Tony was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Yolanda.
He is survived by his five children, Sarah, Alex (Kim), Filomena (Jim) Trombino, Maria (Rich) Smith, and Tony. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Carla (Joshua) Smith, Erik, Casey, Michelle, Joshua, Dominic, Danielle (Andrew) Arrino, Rachael (Ryan) Day, Melissa, and Gregory (Stephanie) Smith and great-grandchildren Eren and Luca.
Tony was also uncle and great-uncle of many nieces and nephews and a great friend and neighbor.
Tony was also preceded in death by his siblings Marian (Joseph) Sorrentino, Biagio (Gina), Frances (Sam) Salvato.
Tony is also survived by his companion of the past 25 years, Louise Cooper. Louise and Tony were very active in their lives in Sun City and were Charter Members of Okatie Pines in Bluffton.
Tony founded and managed “Perri’s Super Food Mart” in Chicago. He retired in 1993 and moved to Hilton Head Island where his love of golf led him to work as part-time starter at Harbor Town Golf course, The Crescent and Okatie Creek Golf Club.
Tony was a fan of all Chicago sports teams, enjoyed a good game of cards and was a puzzle king. He always gave his best in service to community with active roles in the Knights of Columbus & The Order of the Sons of Italy in America (Chicago) and God’s Goods Thrift Store (Bluffton).
A Celebration of Life service will be held at The Church of the Cross at 110 Calhoun Street, Bluffton, SC on Friday, January 12 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be sent to Friends of Carolina Hospice, 329 Friends Lane, Ridgeland, SC 29936.
