Anthony John Sciacca, Jr.

May 1, 1946 — May 17, 2021

Anthony J Sciacca Jr., age 75, passed away on May 17, 2021, at home surrounded by his family - a good man gone too soon. He was born and raised in Lawrence, MA, attending St. Rita's Grammar School and graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1963. He earned his BA in Economics from Boston University in 1968 and his MBA from Boston University in 1983.  His affiliation with the military started in college ROTC where he joined Pershing Rifles and developed life-long friendships with his military fraternity brothers.  He proudly and dutifully served in Vietnam 8/69-8/70 as an Infantry platoon leader with the 4 th Infantry Division.  After that year, he left active duty but served in the Army National Guard and Army Reserve for over 24 years, retiring with the rank of Lt. Colonel.  His civilian career was in telecommunications, focusing on audio, video, and data conferencing networks for various companies in the Chicago area, finally retiring in 2008.  He and his wife, Joyce, moved to Hampton Lake, Bluffton, SC in 2015, escaping the snow and bitter cold in northern Illinois.  Their spiritual home became Church of the Palms (COTP) United Methodist Church in Okatie, SC.

He was always steadfast in his love for God and country.

Tony is survived by his wife of 26 years, Joyce; his sister Christine (Robert) Smith, presently living in Ft. Myers, Fl.; 1nephew, Kenneth (Peggy) Smith; 3 nieces, Dawn Lord, Marsha Oakes, and Julie (David) Oakes; several great nieces/nephews; and dear, loving friends, Manuel Barranco and Julio Valles.  He was preceded in death by his father, Antonio Sciacca, his mother Blanche (nee Dube), and his sister, Mary Christ.

A celebration of life service will be held at COTP on June 23, 2021, 1425 N. Okatie Hwy, Okatie, SC 29909.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or COTP United Methodist Church.
