Arlene Carole Dempsey

Arlene Carole Dempsey (nee Buric) 74, of Bluffton, SC passed away suddenly and peacefully on October 31, 2021.

Arlene was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Buric, and her older sister Christine Oliver.  She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Gil Dempsey.  She is also survived by her children Adam Rawlings (Melissa), Julie Fantozzi (Roberto), Amy Rawlings and her stepchildren, Cheryl O’Brien (Bill), Sande Badowski (Greg) and Jeff Dempsey (Mary Jo).  “Grandma Ar” loved spending time with her grandchildren Alex, Jason, Ryan (Shelby), Aaron, Allyson, Kirsten, Conor, Kennedy, Morgan, Drew, and Jake.   She was a loving aunt to Tina Kopy (Dennis) and sister-in-law to Pat Larkman.

Arlene was born a snowbird in Berea, OH on April 14th, 1947.  She migrated to be an island girl, living in the Hilton Head area since 1998, and in Sun City for the last 17 years.  She enjoyed gardening, jewelry-making, playing Yahtzee/Farkle/cards and walking on the beach. She was also a phenomenal cook.

Arlene was loved by many friends and family.  Those who knew her appreciated her humor and wit. She was a strong wife, mother and grandmother who had a loving heart.

Arlene was an animal lover and loved her pets, Rambo, Peanut, Koko, Hootie & Mikki.

Arlene will be dearly missed and always remembered.

A celebration of life will be held for her in Ohio at a later date.  In lieu of flowers please consideration donations to the charity of your choice.
