Arlene Mae Jones

November 18, 1933 — October 22, 2016

Arlene Mae (Emhof) Jones, daughter of Laura Mae (Miller) and Ernest Emhof was born November 18, 1933 in New Hartford, New York and passed away on October 22, 2016 at Bloom at Belfair, Bluffton, SC.

Mrs. Jones was a High School valedictorian graduate in Clinton, NY. She married George in 1954 and they lived in Massachusetts, New Jersey and Delaware while retiring to Hilton Head Island in 1993. Mrs. Jones served the Lord in many ways – altar guild, treasurer or wherever an extra hand was needed, but always singing in the choir. Her love of singing also extended to membership in the Madison Chorale while in New Jersey which appeared representing the state at the World’s Fair. She was a member of the Sweet Adeline’s Chapter on Hilton Head Island, The Shore Notes and enjoyed performing and competing with them. She was a member of the Island Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Jones leaves her beloved husband, George E. Jones; three daughters, Denise Malone (Timothy) of Agawam, MA; Lorinda Coulter (James) of Redding, MA and Melissa Wentz (Michael) of Pearland, TX; seven grandchildren, Saul, Naomi, Isaac Wentz of Pearland, TX, Matthew and Lauren Malone of Agawam, MA ,and Elizabeth and Hadley Coulter of Reading, MA; three nieces and several grandnieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister and brother in law, Kathryn and Neil Churchill.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Island Lutheran Church, 4400 Main Street, Hilton Head, SC with burial at 11:00 am, Monday, November 14, 2016 at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary St, Beaufort, SC. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Island Lutheran Church, 4400 Main Street, Hilton Head, SC 29926 or The Hilton Head Shore Notes, 25 E. Summerton Dr., Bluffton, SC 29910.

Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton is assisting the family with arrangements.
