Barbara J. Cronin of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2023 at the age of 85. Born in 1938 and raised in northeast Philadelphia, Barbara was a 1957 graduate of Nazareth Academy High School.
Barbara’s warm and outgoing spirit led her to teach grade school at St. Matthew School in Philadelphia, during which time she married her lifelong love, Tom Cronin. Known as “Bobbie” to friends and family, she continued to teach until she welcomed her first child.
While raising two children, Barbara actively managed Cronin Builders in Willingboro, New Jersey. In the mid 1990’s, Tom and Barbara relocated to Bluffton, South Carolina, and operated several Oreck vacuum stores in South Carolina and Georgia. Barbara’s warmth and caring nature was a regular fixture in the Oreck stores, and through the business she became very active in the community, leading to many lasting friendships.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, John Wiercinski and Mary Wiercinski, and her siblings, Patricia Fusaro and John Wiercinski (Jack). A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her husband, Thomas P. Cronin, and children Timothy Cronin of Lawrenceville, New Jersey and Kathleen Cronin of Bluffton, South Carolina, son-in-law Andre Delbos, and granddaughter Lilah Barret Delbos.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, December 22, 2023 at St. Andrew's Chapel, Pinckney Colony. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation in Barbara’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/.
