Barbara Ann (Davenel) Miller

August 31, 1934 — November 26, 2021

Barbara Davenel Miller (Bobbie), 87, of Bluffton South Carolina passed away on November 26, 2021 in the presence of loving family after a five month battle with lung cancer.

Bobbie was born on August 31, 1934 to Frank and Marguerite Davenel in the city of New York, NY. She grew up in Howard Beach, NY and graduated college from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in New York City.

Bobbie married Frank Miller and moved to New Jersey living most of her life in Matawan, NJ. While being a mom to three children, she worked as a Registered Nurse at Bayshore Memorial Hospital as well as a private practice in Matawan for over 20 years.

In 1996, Bobbie began the next phase of her life moving to Sun City in Bluffton SC. There she made many friends and enjoyed golf while continuing her nursing career at Beaufort Memorial Hospital and private practice.

Even after retirement, she never gave up her lifelong passion for nursing and serving others by volunteering as a substitute school nurse as well as caring for sick friends and family. In recent years, she devoted her time to her local Catholic church serving at the Mercy Mission in Hardeeville South Carolina where she worked to serve the needs of the poor by providing food, clothing and home goods.

Bobbie’s other passion was family where she would take every opportunity to be with her children, grandchildren, sisters, nieces, nephews and taking trips around the world with “The Cousins”.

She is survived by children Kevin Miller, Maryellen Miller Petersen, and Paul Miller and her sister Lorraine Davenel Leroux. She is also survived by son in law Bruce Petersen, daughter in law Liz Miller, brother in law George Leroux, grandchildren Neal Peterson, Ryan Petersen, Caitlin Petersen Sloan, Emily Miller, Allyson Miller, Caroline Miller and great grandson Sam Sloan. She has left a loving void that cannot be filled but memories that we will cherish.
