Barbara Jones

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Jones on June 10, 2026, at the age of 82. She was surrounded by her family as she peacefully went to be with the Lord. Barbara was born on January 20, 1944 in Brunswick, GA, to Sam and Alla Mae McElreath.

Barbara met the love of her life and beloved late husband, Paul Jones when she was just 3 years old. It was a first and forever love. Together they raised a daughter and positively touched every community in which they lived. Barbara was known for her positive spirit, helping hands, and love for children. Barbara adored her babies at Ridgeland Baptist Church Preschool where she taught for 20 years.

Barbara’s greatest accomplishment in life was her family. Barbara was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her grandchildren filled her life with immeasurable joy and she loved telling others about them. Barbara cherished every moment she spent with her family so deeply and left everlasting memories with each of them that will be treasured forever.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Alla Mae McElreath, and her husband, Paul Jones.

She is survived by her daughter Melodee Jones Tant, son in law Charles Tant Jr., grandchildren Ashley and Charles Tant III, brother Houston McElreath (Becky and Alan)

A visitation will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Sauls Funeral Home of Ridgeland. A Funeral Service will be held following the visitation at 3:00 pm, also at Sauls Funeral Home of Ridgeland. The Burial will follow at Great Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery.
