Barbara N Kennedy

Barbara Kennedy, 93, of Orlando, FL passed away at NHC Bluffton, SC on April 14, 2019.

She was born on September 12, 1925 in Kettering, Northamptonshire, England. She was a graduate of Kettering School for Girls.

She met her husband during World War II, at an Eighth Air Force squadron party in July 1943, at Molesworth, AFB, Huntingshire, England and she came to America to be married in 1946.

She was predeceased by her husband, John, and her son, Antony. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Larry and Gale Naylor of Callawassie Island, Okatie, SC; an English niece, Carolyn Spence; and English nephews, Mark Needham and David Needham.

The family moved to Orlando, FL in 1954, where they raised their family and she resided until 2014, when her daughter moved her to Bloom Independent Living in Bluffton to be close to her.

She enjoyed writing, gardening, and bridge, and was a supporter of the theatre, ballet, symphony, and opera. SHE DID NOT LIKE BINGO!! She was a published author of a murder mystery, The Univited Guest , a romance novel, The Good Wife , and a children’s book, The Boy Who Loved Alligators , as well as many short stories published in the Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine .

She was also an excellent cook with a flair for entertaining.

She was a member of the English Speaking Union, Winter Park, FL, a docent at the Morse Museum, Winter Park, FL, and attended St. Mary of the Angels Episcopal Church in Pine Castle, FL.

A memorial service will be held at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd, Bluffton, SC on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 2:00 pm.
