Barbara Ann Ligeikis

Barbara Ann Ligeikis, age 78, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on January 26, 1948, in Berwyn, Illinois, Barbara was the beloved daughter of John and Virginia Brady and spent most of her life in the home where she was raised in Brookfield, Illinois, a place that remained deeply tied to her heart and memories throughout her life.

Barbara was the foundation that held her family together. In a home often filled with noise, energy, chaos, and the constant movement of a large family, she was the steady presence at the center of it all. She had a passion for creating a home where people gathered, stories were shared, laughter filled the rooms, and everyone felt welcomed. Through every challenge and every season of life, Barbara carried a quiet strength that kept her family grounded, connected, and deeply loved. Her home was more than just a place to live, it was the heart of the family, and she was the heart of that home.

In 2018, Barbara and her late late husband Julian relocated to Bluffton, South Carolina, where she embraced a slower pace of life. She loved relaxing on pool days, searching for alligators around the Lowcountry, sewing, and spending time with those she loved most. She had a quiet but meaningful way of making people feel cared for and welcomed.

Barbara also held a special place in her heart for the Special Olympics, proudly supporting her youngest son as he competed. Her encouragement, compassion, and unwavering support reflected the kind of person she was.

More than anything, Barbara will be remembered as the heart of her family. Her legacy lives on through her children: Craig Ligeikis (Heather Hill), Heather VandeWeert (Alan), Shawn Ligeikis (Rita), Katie Jindrich (Chas), Eric Ligeikis (Casey), and Joseph Ligeikis, as well as her 12 cherished grandchildren, all of whom brought immense pride and joy to her life.

Barbara’s life was not measured by titles or accomplishments, but by the countless everyday moments she gave to others, the meals shared around the table, the conversations, the laughter, and the steady presence she provided to everyone around her.

Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, her family finds comfort in knowing her love, traditions, and spirit will continue through generations to come.

A Celebration of Life honoring Barbara will be held at a later date in her hometown of Brookfield, Illinois.

Her family asks that those who knew and loved Barbara remember her by spending time with family, sharing stories, enjoying the sunshine, and appreciating the simple moments in life, just as she always did.
