Beatrice Lucile Nancy Roberts

Miss Nancy Roberts, 88, of Ridgeland, SC died Monday, August 11, 2008 in the Ridgeland Nursing Center, Ridgeland, SC.She was born in Gillisonville on November 7, 1919. She was the daughter of the late R.T.W. Roberts Jr. and Bessie Langford Roberts.Miss Roberts was a faithful and devoted member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, being the longest duration member of the congregation.Miss Roberts graduated from Ridgeland High School, attended Lander College and graduated from the University of South Carolina. She did post graduate studies (Library Science) at USC. She was an English Teacher and Librarian. She taught at Ridgeland High School, Savannah High School, Chatham Jr. High School and directed the library at Wilder Jr. High School in Savannah.Miss Roberts was predeceased by sisters, Maye Roberts Padgett and Helen Roberts Freeman. She is survived by a niece, Kaye Freeman Davis of Ridgeland, SC and a nephew, James E. Padgett Jr. MD of Columbia, SC. Also surviving are six great nieces and nephews and nine great, great nieces and nephews.Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, August 14, 2008 at St. Paul Methodist Church, Ridgeland, SC with burial in Gillisonville Baptist Church Cemetery, Gillisonville, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 2:00 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to the St. Paul Methodist Church, 7488 West Main Street, Ridgeland, SC 29936Sauls Funeral Home of Ridgeland, SC is assisting the family with their arrangements.
