Ben Earl Floyd, 87, of Hardeeville, SC died January 7, 2014 at Costal Carolina Hospital in Hardeeville, SC.
He was born on May 21, 1927 in Garnet, SC the son of the late Ben and Carrie Sauls Floyd.
He was the former owner of Floyd's Service Center and Wrecker Service and worked as a long haul truck driver for Coastal Transport. He was a founding member and trustee of the Hardeeville Church of God and donated the original building used for the worship center. He was a US Army veteran of WWII. He enjoyed working with cars.
He was predeceased by his son Don Floyd and sister, Helen Able.
He is survived by his wife, Miriam Mills Floyd of Ridgeland, SC; daughters Gwen F. Walsh (Elbert) of Hardeeville, SC, Karen Monday (Phillip) of Hardeeville, SC and Lori Gray (Lee) OF Madison, AL; brother Lee Floyd of North Carolina; 12 grandchildren, DeAnne Spikes, Donnie Floyd, Jeremy Floyd, Jarrett and Brandon Walsh, Troy and Cody Ramsey, Shawn, Brian & Travis Haupt, and Robert and Michael Murphy; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2pm, Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Hardeeville Church of God, Main Street, Hardeeville, SC 29927 with burial following at Purrysburg Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 1pm until the hour of the service.
